Ronald Wilford Stokes
February 26, 1942 - October 30, 2022
Ronald Wilford Stokes, 80, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at his residence in Perry, GA. A service celebrating his life will be held later in St. Augustine, Florida.
Ronald was born on February 26, 1942, in Cartersville, GA to the late Idus and Dorothy (Jefferson) Stokes. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Army for 22 years. He served as a military police officer for 21 years, and a CID special Agent for 16 years of his 22-year career. While serving in the Army, Ronald received several accommodations, bronze star, national defense medal, combat Infantry badge, German parachute badge, master parachute badge, aircraft crewman badge, Vietnam cross of gallantry with palm, bronze German army marksman badge, and Army service ribbon, just to name a few.
After serving in the military, Ronald began a career in defense contracting. He worked for the Department of Energy in Panama, Colorado Army Core of Engineers in Savannah, GA, and was a contractor with Wackenhut Security.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Dianna (Cramer) Stokes.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Ronda Watson of Perry; son: Kevin Stokes (Vickie) of Warner Robins; sister: Judy Thompson (Ronnie) of Williamson, GA; brother: Wayne Stokes (Karen) of San Diego, CA; grandchildren: Broc Cox (Brittany) of Valdosta, Garrett Cox of Kathleen, and Andrew Stokes (Kristen) of Suwanee, GA; great-grandchildren: Christian Cox, Broxton Cox, Brody Cox, Baylor Cox, Boone Cox, Delaney Cox, and Eliza Gene Stokes; his beloved dog, Toby and many nieces and nephews.
