Hasty Pearl Foreman

August 7, 1958 - July 20, 2021

Hasty Pearl Foreman was born August 7, 1958, to Joffie and Hasty Mae Foreman in Washington, North Carolina. As a child, as early as 9 years old, she started working as a fieldhand. She was no stranger to demanding work whether it was manual labor or furthering her education, she was a determined person.

She graduated Elizabeth City State University with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Shortly after, she began working as a Security Guard. Pearl would eventually enlist the military in March 1983. She began basic training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC. Her first AIT was at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX. From 1983 to 1985, she worked as a Patient Administrator in a hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. Pearl obtained several certifications to afford her various career opportunities.

Continuing to work in the medical field, Pearl moved to Fort Devens, MA, to oversee a medical clinic. It was then she decided to go back to school in Alabama studying Criminal Investigation earning her CID. As a special agent, she investigated felony crimes with the U.S. Army at Fort Lee, Virginia.

After the military, she would retire from the Veterans Administration as an Administrative Assistant after 30+ years. During her career, she was awarded The Connecticut Wartime Veterans Service Medal. She was the first female State Commander and was Chapter Commander for 14 years.

Preceded in death by her parents. Survived by her siblings, a host of nieces, nephews and devoted friends, Brian L. Buckmon and Margaret “Maggie” Grant.

Interment was in the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery (Section I, Site 610), 2200 East Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN.
