James William Boydston
June 5, 1924 – February 18, 2004
James W. Boydston, 79, retired from the Army, died Feb. 18, 2004 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Brantley Funeral Home with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery Midtown.
He was a World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veteran, who received a Silver Star, three Bronze Stars and seven Purple Hearts. He was a Mason and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday school teacher and choir member.
Mr. Boydston, the husband of Dr. Mildred Bailey Boydston for 59 years, also leaves five daughters, Peggy Jones of Germantown, Linda Lochridge of Olive Branch, Elizabeth Curtis of Plato, Mo., Barbara Romanoff of Boring, Ore., and Dr. Jennifer Franklin of Tucson, Ariz.; a son, L. E. Bailey Boydston of Montara, Calif.; a sister, Elizabeth Lewis of Clinton, Miss., 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Forest Hill-Iren Road, Memphis, TN.
