James Harold Tucker



February 13, 1930 - March 23, 2022

James Harold Tucker, 92, of Kearneysville passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, after a long illness.

Born February 13, 1930, in Wilkes County, North Carolina, James was the son of the late Edward Goodwin and Rosa (Demitt) Tucker.

James retired from the U.S. Army where he served as a Criminal Investigator. He was injured in the Korean War earning the Purple Heart as well as a number of other medals. After his military career, he served 21 years at General Motors. Prior to his illness, James enjoyed fishing, gardening and shopping with his beloved wife.

James was a member of the Johnsontown Church of the Brethern. He was also a faithful attendee of the Leetown Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and served Him with his whole heart.

James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty French Tucker; his children, Terry Tucker Perkinson (Nat) of Cary, NC, Lynn Tucker Bowen (Leonard) of Manson, NC, Jim D. Tucker (Susan) of Manson, NC and Clyde O. French who was like a son; five grandchildren, Jamie Stone, Kelly Hargrove, Rebecca Tucker, Laura Tucker and Meredith Tucker; two great grandchildren, Tucker Thompson and Levi Hargrove.

The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm, at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.

Funeral services were held March 30, 2022, at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Denny Rhoe officiating, with interment following in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Kearneysville, WV.
