Mareno Francis Vespini

February 12, 1928 – February 17, 2020

Mareno Francis Vespini, age 92, of St. Simons Island, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020. Mareno was born in Coupon, PA to John and Mary Dueolie Vespini. He graduated from Omaha University then served with the Merchant Marines in World War II. After the war, he joined the Army where he served in the Korean War, then served two tours in Vietnam as a Special Agent for the US Army Criminal Investigation Division.

He retired after 28 years as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. In his spare time, Mareno enjoyed collecting rare coins and stamps and bird watching.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Ivy Vespini.

He is survived by a daughter, Serena Vespini; a son, Chris Vespini; four grandchildren, Jason Porter and Sarah, Emma and Anthony Vespini and three great-grandchildren, Zackary Porter and Maddison and Mason Futch. Mareno will be interred beside his wife at Arlington National Cemetery.
