Albert McDowell, Jr.
October 28, 1912 - August 24, 2006
Albert McDowell, Jr., 93, of Lake Wales, Florida died of heart failure on August 24, 2006 at Lake Wales Medical Center. Born in Jacksonville on October 28, 1912, he came to Lake Wales from Albuquerque, N.M., 32 years ago.
He was a retired director of the Forestry Division for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He was formerly a school teacher at Roosevelt, and he was a retired CID Agent for the Army after more than 20 years of service.
He was a member of the Lake Wales branch of the NAACP, and a member of Allen Temple AME Church.
Mr. McDowell is survived by his companion, Dorothy Hawkins, Lake Wales; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Burial was at Willow Lawn Cemetery in Lake Wales, FL.
