Thomas J. Mackesy

Retired Navy Chief Photographer Thomas J. Mackesy, 71, passed away Monday, February 23, 2009 at Wuesthoff Medical Center in Rockledge, FL. Chief Mackesy was born in Brooklyn, NY and came to Brevard County in 1997 from Rex, GA.

He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of active duty and embarked on a second career as a civilian employee of the U.S. Army retiring again in 1994. His last position was Chief of Technical Support at the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory (USACIL) in Atlanta, GA.

Chief Mackesy was a 40 year member of the Fleet Reserve Association, a former member of the Professional Photographers of America and an associate member of the Army CID Agents Association.

Tom was preceeded in death by his wife of 33 years, Maureen, in 1995. Survivors include his companion, Sybil Largent of Cape Canaveral, FL; sisters, Elizabeth Napoli of Round Rock, TX, and Eileen Mackesy-Karpoff of Bogota, NJ.; brothers, Richard Mackesy of Hellertown, PA. and William Mackesy of River Edge, NJ.
