Tonia Devore Smith Whatley
Tonia DeVore Smith Whatley, 84, of Anniston, Alabama passed away July 26, 2021. She was a native of Anniston and worked at NASA for Dr. Wernher von Braun at Redstone Arsenal for several years. Upon returning to Anniston, Mrs. Whatley worked at the Chemical School as well as the Army Criminal Investigative Division (CID) at Ft. McClellan. She was a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church and had also attended the First Baptist Church of Saks and Colvin Street Church of Christ.
Mrs. Whatley is preceded in death by her parents, Ross Wilmer and Sybil P. Wood DeVore; her husbands, James E. Smith and William J. Whatley; a sister, Martha Brewster; and a niece, Laura Knight.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Robinett and her husband, Merrill, Donna Mann, and Carla Hill and her husband, Bo; grandchildren, Rachel Robinett Dyess, Marlin Mann, Jason Mann, Adam Mann, Melissa Mann, Allison Mann, Katie Hill, Erin Hill Craft, Ben Hill, Shelby Hill, and Sara Beth Hill; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Savannah, Cayden, Braden, Calvin, Kennedy, Clayton, and Marley Mann; a sister, Beth Knight; nephew, Michael Knight; and nieces, Tracey Knight, Kim Pruett, and Kelly Pruett Beane.
