Have received word via John Mays, that Ms Jo passed away last Thursday (18 July) from conditions related to cancer. She was for years CID in Europe's criminal information analyst and institutional memory. When she announced her retirement some years ago, we were all worried that we would lose a source of knowledge and continuity upon which generations of commanders and agents had depended. Not only was she a walking encyclopaedia of the history of criminal investigative activities in Europe but also served as an interpreter and trusted representative of Army CID with numerous law enforcement agencies throughout the theatre. Multilingual, she accompanied me on many trips to activities like the annual STAR drug conferences with both Western and Eastern European agencies. Our concerns of losing her contributions were real but turned out to be unfounded as even in retirement, she would regularly turn up at Stem Kaserne "to help out". Her many contributions to our collective successes were recognised with her selection for the USACIDC Hall of Fame. She was a grand lady. May God bless her and may she rest in peace.
