Robert Scott Manners, 67, passed away July 4, 2017 at his home. A memorial service will be held, Sunday, July 9, 2017 4 p.m. at Heroes American Grille in Jacksonville. Friends and family will gather to celebrate Scott's life and honors will be provided by Sheriff Matthew Wade and the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office. Mr. Manners was a native of Pennsylvania, and a longtime resident of Jacksonville. After serving in the U.S. Army, he traveled and lived in numerous places. He was assigned to the Polygraph Institute at Fort McClellan in 1987, where he was employed by the Department of Defense. He fell in love with northeast Alabama, and found the love of his life, and because of that, he never left. Scott was employed with Calhoun County Sheriff's office. He also taught criminal justice and psychology classes at Gadsden State. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Patricia Manners, and his wife, Judith Knight Manners. Mr. Manners is survived by his children, Annette Simmons Maddox, Rusty Simmons (Becky), and Daniel Simmons (Leah). He also had four grandchildren, Anna Maddox, Hayden Simmons, Reagen Simmons, and Russell Simmons Jr.; one sister, Robin Sereno (John), and one brother, Chris Manners (Mary Beth). He also had several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Calhoun County Sheriff Office, 400 West 8th Street, Anniston, AL 36201.
