Met Hans and Setsuko while stationed at Camp Zama, 1969 - 1971. So sorry to hear of Hans' loss.

Setsuko Gidion was known and loved by many of us in CID, especially those who served with USACIL in Japan and Augusta during the 60s and 70s.

Hans and Setsuko were blessed to have six children: Ember of Perris CA, Eric of Poulsbo WA, Erica of Wilmington NC, Suzy of Kerrville TX, Elizabeth of Wilmington NC, and Eve of Atlanta Ga.

Mrs Setsuko Gidion (1931-2017) went to be with the Lord on 4 April 2017 at the young age of 85. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her daughter's (Erica) home in Wilmington, NC.

Setsuko was born in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. She was a long-time resident of Augusta, GA and is survived by her husband and six children. Setsuko will be greatly missed by her children, grand- and great-grandchildren, and grand-cats and dogs. A celebration of her life will be held at a private family gathering at a later time.

"It's a beautiful day Setsuko. It's a beautiful day!"

NOTE: Setsuko was the spouse of Hans M. Gidion, retired USACIL Questioned Documents Examiner, and mother of Erica, who worked in the Admin Section at USACIL.

As mentioned above, there will be a private family gathering at a later date and there will be no funeral. An online guestbook registry is available here.
