Nick is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jennifer, his four children Mia (David) Davila, Melinda (Franco) Moreno, Nicholas (Karin) and Richard Green. He is the proud grandfather of Suzy, Dylan, Heather, Ashleigh, Andrew, Nicole and Garrett. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, then Wayne State University with a Masters Degree in Education. He was a teacher in the Hamtramck Public School System before being called into active duty. Nick served in the U.S. Special Forces as a Green Beret in Central America with tours that included command assignments at Fort Leavenworth, as an associate professor of military science at the University of Wisconsin and two stints with the Army's Military Police in South Korea. After retiring from the military, Nick continued to serve his country as a special agent with the U.S. Department of State where he protected foreign dignitaries, conducted criminal investigations and served abroad in El Salvador, Nigeria and the U.K.. Senior domestic assignments in the Diplomatic Security Service followed later as Chief of the Marine Security Guard Program and as the division head for Emergency Action Plans. He earned the Award of Valor for extraordinary professional competence, personal courage, and attention to detail under extremely adverse conditions. He is the author of Ripples: One Man's Journey from the Barracks to the Embassy that chronicles his two distinguished careers for the government spanning more than 30 years. I worked with Nick Green in 1978 during a UN Disarmament Conference. Nick worked with the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service (DSS). He had enjoyed his time in CID and the respect of the other DSS agents. I enjoyed our conversations. RIP, Nick

I served with LTC Green at 7th Region in 1975. A true gentleman. I am sorry to hear about his passing.

LTC (Ret) Nick Green, MPC of Northville, MI passed away on 7 February 2011. Some members of the CIDAA may recall Nick and his wife, Jenny, as attendees at a couple of CIDAA meetings. He just recently completed his autobiography which may be of interest. "Ripples, One Man's Journey From The Barracks To The Embassy" is available online from Barnes&Noble.com.
