Cecelia P BARCLAY passed away on 9 November 2006. Among the survivors are her husband, George. In her early years, Cecelia had been a Federal Government employee in Washington, DC, South Korea and Japan. She met her husband while both were visiting a Catholic orphanage in Sendai, Japan. They married in Yokohama, Japan on 26 April 1952. For the next 26 years she accompanied her husband to various locations in Canada, the United States and Europe, prior to locating in Georgia in 1978. In 1988 she lost her independence due to macular degeneration. In 1995 she underwent a quadruple bypass from which she never fully recovered. Following the death of her beloved son in 2000, her physical and mental health started to decline, and in December 2004 she was admitted to Christian City Convalescent Center, suffering from arterial sclerotic dementia. Cecelia was a devout Catholic. The family's gratitude goes to the 2nd floor staff of Christian City Convalescent Center for their care of Cecelia during her stay there. Thanks, too, to the members of TOPS, 107, Morrow, who always remembered her with fondness, and to the members of the Legion of Mary, St John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The family requests no flowers, instead, contributions may be made to Christian City Convalescent Center, 7300 Lester Road, Union City, Georgia 30291. A funeral mass will be said in the Morrow Chapel, 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 14, 2006, with Father Ed Thein officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA. Pope Dickson & Son, Morrow Chapel is in charge 770-961-2700. Please send condolences to George and family at the address on page 9 of your Gold Books.
