Retired Army Sgt 1st Class Donald Larry Crouse, 70, of Fayetteville, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2008, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mr. Crouse was a Vietnam War veteran with more than 23 years of honorable service to his country. During his military career, he received numerous medals and commendations, including the Bronze Star, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. He served with the Signal Corps, the Military Police Corps and Criminal Investigation Command (CID).

After his military service, he became a private investigator and owned and operated Crouse Investigations Inc. in Fayetteville for the past 28 years.

Mr. Crouse was a member of the Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge No. 1032 in Germany.

He was a loving husband to his wife of almost 39 years, Brunhilde S. Crouse of Fayetteville; one son, U.S. Army Maj. Michael Crouse of Fort McPherson, Ga.; one daughter, Christine Crouse Mullins and husband U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Christopher Mullins of Illesheim, Germany; two granddaughters, Taylor Mullins and Riley Mullins; and his brother, Robert Crouse of Rogersville, Pa.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008, in the chapel of Rogers and Breece Funeral Home with Chaplain Kent Uffington officiating.

Mr. Crouse will be laid to rest with the rendering of full military honors and Masonic burial rites at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

The Crouse family has entrusted the services to Rogers and Breece Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
