Dr (LTC Retired) Frank C Sidella, 92, of St Simons Island, GA, passed away Saturday, 13 August 2011 at Hospice of The Golden Isles in Brunswick, GA. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, 19 August 2011 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, St Simons Island with Pastor Paul Elbert officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Oglethorpe Cemetery, Tom Tolle, Mike Beaver, Wes Schiwtz, Don Long, Jim Fraser, and Dave Erickson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Storino and Joe Mruk.

Born 17 January 1919 in Waterbury, CT, he was the son of the late Luigi and Salvatrice Sidella. Dr Sidella attended Waterbury Schools before entering the army. He earned a bachelor's degree from Temple University, a master's degree in taxation and public administration from Southeastern University, and a doctoral degree from Pacific Western University.

Dr Sidella served his country for nearly three decades in the Infantry, Counter-intelligence, and Military Police Corps, valiantly and courageously protecting democracy during WWII, and the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retirement from the military as a LTC in 1970, he worked for the US Marshals Service in Washington, DC, where he assisted on the development of training programs of the first US Marshal Service training academy. He received many honors while fulfilling that position. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Agnes E Sidella, three brothers, Albert Sidella, Louis Sidella, Jr, and Robert "Butch" Sidella, and one sister Rose Sidella. Survivors include his daughter, Pamela Sidella of Brunswick, two brothers, William Sidella and wife Jean of Waterbury, CT, and Gilbert Sidella of Naugatuck, CT, two sisters, Marie Peluso of Atlantic City, NJ, and Sylvia Saraffino of Woodbury, CT, and several nieces and nephews . The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 18 August 2011 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. www.edomillerandsons.com
