Walter F. Junkins, 89, of Lower Allen Twp, Camp Hill, PA, died Friday, 13 June 2008 at home. Mr Junkins was a true patriot. He was a retired Major with the United States Army and a Veteran of World War II and Korea. He retired from the Commonwealth of PA as Director of Weights and Measures; was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Camp Hill; Saint Paul's Algonquin Lodge, AF&AM, Braintree, MA; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree, Harrisburg; past member and the captain of the police unit of the Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg; a past president and comptroller of the Criminal Investigation Division Agents Association; a past president of the National Sojourners Association and member of the Heroes of '76; a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Triune Lodge No. 307, Middletown; past president of the Crime Clinic of Greater Harrisburg; and past Commander of the Military Order of World Wars, Harrisburg Chapter. Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late William L and Agnes J (Dolliver) Junkins. Surviving are his wife of over 60 years, Jean Rush Junkins; a son, Philip J Junkins of Lusby, MD; a grandson, Matthew M Junkins and a great granddaughter, Skyeler S Junkins.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM, on 17 June at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1610 Carlisle Road, Camp Hill. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Viewing will be held on 16 June from 6-8 PM in Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland, where Masonic services will be held at 7:30 PM In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o Zembo Shrine, 2801 N Third Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or to Pinnacle Health Hospice, 3705 Elmwood Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
