Unbeknownst to me, CW3 (Ret) Leon T. Addy, an old friend and CID associate passed away at Columbia, SC, on 4 March 2010. He was 88. Leon was as good as they come and a true professional. May he rest in peace.

CW3 (ret) Leon Trabert Addy, 88, was born in Leesville, SC on 6 May 1921 and passed away in Columbia, SC on 4 March 2010. Services were held on 7 March 2010, at Salem United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. United Methodist Men served as honorary pallbearers. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, was in charge.
Mr Addy was the son of the late Andrew and Hassie Drafts Addy. He completed Bowers Business College and two years at U S C where he played minor league baseball. He enlisted in the U S Army in 1942 and served his country during WW II in the invasion of North Africa. He also served in Sicily, Italy and France. He was discharged after 35 months overseas and received nine battle stars.
Leon was in the National Guard for 30 years serving as a warrant officer and was employed by the U S Army at Fort Jackson as manpower control officer. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free Masons. He loved his church, country and family. He was funny, smart, patient and had a great sense of humor - he will be greatly missed. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Koon Addy, and son, Leon Timothy Addy. He was preceded in death by sisters, Lorene Sease Robbins and Mozelle Reaves and brothers, Bryce, Rhett, Andrew and Hugh Addy. The family thanks Community Home Care and Hospice.
